Fully electric fleet at Cannes World Film Festival
The Cannes World Film Festival took place at the Côte d’Azur at the end of May. At the festival the newest movies from all genres and all around the globe are previewed. With celebraties from all over the world coming to Cannes for this exclusive event, the right transportation is necessary to ensure that all guests are at the right place at the right time. BMW was the partner for the film festival and provided a fleet with 163 electric vehicles at Cannes to guarantee a smooth transfer between the airport, event locations and the hotels of the guests.
With their expanding electric fleet, the rides provided were not only silent but also without emissions from the car exhaust. All those electric vehicles naturally needed to be charged every once in a while, and for this reason Inforomu provided a total of 39 single-phase EV chargers with a power of 32 ampere. However, the two available grid connection were not sufficient to provide the necessary power to all the chargers.
Two batteries buffering the grid connections
While the two grid connections on their own did not have the necessary power for all chargers, two of our batteries could be connected as buffers. By using the mobile batteries as buffers, the battery can supply the energy whenever the demanded power is too high for the available grid connection. This way, the available power source can be fully and efficiently utilized without the need for a (diesel) generator. Therefore, this solution saves all direct emissions and creates the perfect combination of electric vehicles, EV chargers and mobile batteries for a full sustainable solution. The visitors of the Cannes World Film Festival were could fully focus on the inspiring new movies and the enjoyment of the event.
