Across Denmark, festivals are working hard to reduce their environmental impact. And we’re helping them do it. Many festivals still rely solely on diesel generators to power their events, simply because they’re familiar, and trying something new can feel risky. After all, no one wants a blackout during a headline act.
Fortunately, our mobile batteries are safe, reliable, and the perfect solution for any power shortage. Over the years, our collaboration with Denmark’s biggest festivals has grown exponentially. What started as an experiment with just three batteries, this year became a large-scale operation with 16 batteries working at the same time across the country. But to do this effectively, we needed the help of our partner.
As part of our ongoing collaboration, Greener and Godik teamed up to bring clean energy to 15+ major Danish festivals. Godik is the leading supplier of festival infrastructure in Denmark and operates throughout the Nordics. Their deep knowledge of the event industry, combined with Greener’s fleet of mobile batteries and expertise in energy management, makes us ready to tackle any power challenge.
Denmark’s most prominent festivals
Together with Godik, we teamed up with several of Denmark’s largest festival organisers, Live Nation Denmark, DTD Group and Roskilde Festival, to bring clean power to their various projects. These festivals included Roskilde Festival itself, attracting 130,000+ attendees, Tinderbox with 50,000+ attendees and heavy metal festival Copenhell, bringing in 35,000+ dedicated fans a year.
The versatility of our mobile batteries and our in-house developed Energy Management System (EMS) allows us to calculate the perfect setup for each project. All festivals have different energy needs, and we ensure the best possible solution for each case.
Peak shaving: when grid access is available but limited
For several festivals we provided a sustainable solution through peak shaving: we boosted their grid connections by combining them with our batteries. The batteries charge through the grid and deliver extra energy during peak demand.
- Copenhell: 11 x 422 kWh batteries, powering various stages and saving 16,000+ litres of diesel.
- NorthSide: 2 x 422 kWh batteries connected to a 230A and 280A grid connection, saving 2400 litres of diesel and 145 generator running hours.
- Roskilde: 4 x 422 kWh batteries to boost grid connections ranging from 125A – 400A. Saving 5000 litres of diesel and 522 generator running hours.
- Forever Festival: 2 x 336 kWh batteries to boost two mid-size grid connections. Saving 2600 litres of diesel and 230 generator running hours.
Load sharing: evenly spread the load for a reliable power supply while saving on emissions
Our system enables real-time load sharing between battery and generator. When needed, the EMS coordinates both sources to jointly supply the load, ensuring smooth operation during high energy demand while always minimising fuel usage and maximising battery efficiency. The result? Massive fuel and emissions savings, while still delivering a stable and powerful energy supply, even off-grid.
- Tinderbox: 10 x 422 kWh batteries powering the various stages and food area. Saving 30,500 litres of diesel and 1558 generator running hours.
- Heartland: 10 x 422 kWh batteries, 2 in peak shaving and 8 in load sharing setups. Saving 14,000 litres of diesel and 637 generator running hours.
Thanks to our partnership with Godik, we were able to deliver clean, efficient, and dependable power to Denmark’s biggest festivals. With part of our battery fleet stationed in Denmark, Godik can provide mobile clean energy to any event ready to take the leap.
