  • On behalf of AEG and LS Events, Greener supported Pearce Hire alongside Gridfaeries X Ecotricity & Geopura to deliver a completely diesel-free performance
  • Massive Attack’s vision of a large-scale festival day without burning diesel was achieved
  • Greener’s expertise enabled sitewide calculations that shaped the roaming battery strategy.
  • Charging was optimised through a planned schedule, making the most of the existing grid connection, which was shared with the Gridfaeries X Ecotricity BESS
  • Mobile batteries provided zero-emission energy where and when required.
  • Greener supplied 14 batteries powering multiple areas of the site, delivering 5,908 kWh of energy storage and 4,452 kVA of inverter power. Other areas included the Gridfaeries X Ecotricity BESS powering the mainstage and a GEO Pura Hydrogen System powering the second stage/providing a constant charge of 60kw to a Greener battery system.

A diesel-free concert

LIDO Festival took to Victoria Park in 2025 with a clear ambition: to run without diesel. For the first time, the festival operated entirely on renewable energy for 32 hours while still delivering headline performance from Massive Attack. With vision and expertise, a site that would usually be powered by generators went completely diesel-free satisfying Massive Attack’s demand to break another sustainability barrier.

How the Roaming Battery Strategy Worked

Greener Power Solutions helped Pearce Hire adapt the tried and tested model of a roaming battery system used at Massive Attack’s Bristol Downs show on a larger scale. Greener implemented the batteries (excluding the main stage provided by Grid Faeries x Ecotricity) and played a crucial role in the delivery of the roaming battery system that made LIDO’s diesel-free goal possible. Once Pearce Hire had calculated the site’s energy requirements, our team worked with them to create a charging schedule based on the available grid connection and the batteries’ loading capabilities.

This approach allowed the event to deploy a roaming fleet of mobile Greener Power Solutions batteries on electric Mercedes trucks that could be charged at the grid and moved where they were needed most. By ensuring the right capacity was always available, we supported power for secondary stages, community zones and production areas without compromise.

Working in partnership with Pearce Hire alongside Grid Faeries X Ecotricity and Geo Pura, our batteries became part of a wider renewable system combining grid supply, large-scale storage, solar and hydrogen. Massive Attack and their Tour & Sustainability Manager Jamal Chalabi also worked with local bus depots to provide an off-site charging solution and Mercedes EV trucks to move mobile batteries on site. During the event, reductions in demand meant that off-site charging was not required.

Shaping the Future of Sustainable Events

By achieving a diesel-free status, LIDO Festival has set a new standard for live events in London. Greener is proud to have played a crucial role in the design and implementation of the roaming battery concept that made this milestone possible.

Our technology and expertise show that emission-free power is not just achievable, but practical at scale. Together with partners like Pearce Hire, Grid Faeries X Ecotricity and Geo Pura we are helping the events industry make the transition away from diesel a working reality.

“I knew that we needed to work with Greener on this project from the day I received the initial brief. Having known multiple members of the team at Greener for a long time, I knew we could rely on their expertise. As expected, they went above and beyond to deliver what was requested to make the event a success. It’s very impressive what Greener Power Solutions can deliver. ”
