Main results:
- Provided clean, stable power for broadcasting stations covering the Olympics
- 6549 litres diesel, 21 tonnes CO2, 102 kg nitrogen oxides, 676 generator running hours saved
For the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, Greener Power Solutions delivered reliable, low-emission power to a vital broadcasting location.
Large international events such as the Olympics push local energy infrastructure to its limits. Temporary venues are set up, energy demand highly fluctuates and downtime would have dire consequences. This requires stable, strong, temporary power solutions, which is exactly what Greener specialises in.
Power for temporary broadcast stations
At the Hochsitz Nations’ Village, the local grid was under pressure. Power demand from multiple temporary broadcast stations exceeded the limited grid capacity, leading to frequency fluctuations and stability risks.
We deployed two 318 kVA mobile battery systems, connected to two 250A grid connections.
The batteries boosted the available grid capacity, absorbed peak loads and were able to provide a stable power supply for the broadcasting stations covering the Winter Olympics.
By using battery storage for peak shaving, the grid connection could be used more effectively without needing to rely on multiple large generators.
This way we saved:
- 6549 litres diesel
- 21 tonnes CO2
- 102kg nitrogen oxides
- 676 generator running hours
