High electricity peaks at Awakenings festival and Awakenings Easter
The 25th edition of Awakenings was planned to be special with an early Awakenings Easter festival taking place at Recreatiegebied Spaarnwoude on Saturday and Sunday and at the same time Awakenings Easter at the Gashouder in Amsterdam from Thursday to Sunday. Awakenings has a sustainability policy to ensure a responsible handling of resources and a minimization of the environmental impact. Additionally, the light shows, which the techno festival is famous for, can lead to high power peaks.
However, with small grid connections on location, the question about a clean energy supply needed an answer. Luckily, the team from Awakenings already knew about Greener Power Solutions and our batteries. Awakenings was the first festival, which chose Greener batteries for their energy supply back in 2018. We at Greener are proud and happy to have the continued trust of Awakenings and be able to supply energy storage for their events.
7 batteries during production and performance
To ensure a secure power supply, a total of seven batteries were deployed. One of them was already delivered during the production and construction of the festival a few weeks before the actual performance. One of the remaining batteries was brought to the Gashouder in Amsterdam for Awakenings Easter, while the other five later joined the battery at Awakenings festival. The batteries were used as buffers in combination with the available grid connections, as well as biofuel generators. This ensured that no diesel needed to be used. Awakenings is further expanding their sustainability efforts according to their sustainability policy to include aspects, such as served food, available cups, waste management and CO2 compensation.
“Ever since the first Greener project in 2018 we have been working together with Klaas and Dieter from Greener. This year we were able to use our HVO20 power plants in combination with a total of 7 Greener batteries at 2 locations, which were peak shaving or used as day / night tension systems to achieve the highest energy efficiency possible. Additionally, the monitoring helped us to already prepare for our next event in July and develop the perfect energy set-up. Stay awake!”
