Sustainable charging solution during the race event in Rome
During an electric racing event in Rome, 22 drivers from 11 teams competed for the highest podium spot. The electric racing cars mostly charge at the same times: after qualifying and just before the race. Greener provided the charging solution during an electric racing event this summer. This allowed the organization to take further steps in terms of sustainability.
1.8MW power thanks to microgrid of connected batteries
The battery of an electric racing car is smaller than, for example, that of a Tesla. However, this racing event cars can charge very quickly, and they all want to do this around the same time during a race weekend. This requires an energy system that can handle an enormous peak demand of up to 2MW.
To increase sustainability and deliver fully electric charging, Greener created a setup with seven linked batteries. These batteries worked together via our self-developed microgrid software. This software helps you create your own energy grid. This way you are less dependent on the power provided by the grid connection. You can add as many batteries as required to the setup.
Despite the relatively small grid connection on location in Rome, it was still possible to deliver a capacity of 1.8MW from the 100amp grid supply available. This is a (provisional) record for Greener. The microgrid software proved to be stable and robust in the field, which offers many future possibilities in, for example, the construction sector.
