Festival powered by wind and solar energy
Rock Werchter in Belgium has been committed to becoming a more sustainable festival for years. To minimise diesel consumption this year, the organisers tried something new: a combination of wind, solar, grid power, and batteries.
Bolt Energie provided an innovative mobile wind turbine. Positioned at the entrance of the festival grounds, its 20-metre height and colourful design drew a lot of attention. The wind in its blades generated up to 110 kWh of green energy per day. Close by, there was a field of solar panels covering 1800 square feet, generating between 150-200 kWh per day. These are two excellent methods for generating sustainable energy, but one more component was needed to truly optimise these energy sources. Well, actually, three.
