Unreliable generators impacting operation
Our client for this case was operating a concrete batching plant, which requires a very high peak and dynamic load for their electricity supply. The plant faced a pressing issue with its existing setup, relying on four 500kVA diesel generators. Operated manually, these generators caused significant downtime whenever one failed, leading to the scrapping of produced concrete and a restart. Additionally, the generators were underloaded, especially overnight, resulting in engine issues and excessive fuel consumption. The manual operation and inefficient usage were critical pain points, impacting both productivity and environmental sustainability. Greener was tasked with devising a solution that would eliminate downtime, enhance efficiency, and reduce fuel consumption.

Greener proposed a comprehensive solution by adding a 318kVA mobile battery system to the set-up. This configuration offered a more efficient and flexible system, allowing the concrete batching plant to operate seamlessly without interruptions. The battery system played a pivotal role by providing power overnight to various essential components, smoothing out reactive power within the system. The synchronised setup allowed for programming parameters, ensuring a minimum of two generators running alongside the battery.
